Dongtian Park, also known as Taoist Fairyland Park, is one of the oldest and most popular scenic spots on Hainan Island. UI was engaged to reposition the park and resort for the 21st century and rebrand it as an international tourism destination.

By focusing on the myths and legends of Taoist Culture, UI was able to design a culturally responsible and sustainable resort park of over 1160 acres (472 hectares).

The project consists of five major zones – The Arrival and Access Corridor, Cultural Industry Zone, Gate Scenery Zone, The Taoist Longevity Path, and the Waterfront – that begin at the north end of the site and filter down to the tropical beach below. United by an eco-friendly monorail – the Fairyland Bridge – that weaves above the lush natural landscape, each of these components is home to a diverse array of entertaining and leisurely activities including an Aerial Balloon Tour, the Flower Garden Maze, the Earth Sky Spa, a 5-star Resort Hotel, and the innovative Mangrove Island – a man-made island resort that was designed in the shape of the yin-yang symbol.
